OPEN POSSIBILITIES, CLOSED CONFERENCE
by Laureen Hudson
In her article dedicated to the latest JavaOne show at San Fransisco Moscone Centre, Laureen Hudson shares her impressions on this year's Conference.
"From the sea of backpacks and badges and T-shirts, from the groups of developers clustered around laptops in every restaurant and bar around Moscone Centre - and even in the park, because we had great weather for the first few days of the Conference - I think it's pretty clear that there's a lot to talk about with regards to Java technology, a lot that is happening in an organic, community-supported kind of way."

JSF CENTRAL: THE JAVASERVER FACES POWERHOUSE?
By Kito D. Mann
In his article JSFCentral editor-in-chief, Kito D. Mann, discusses JBoss and their involvement in the JavaServer Faces community.
"If you have followed JBoss over the past few years, you can't deny that they've made a lot of good moves. First there's the catchy marketing phrase 'Professional Open Source.' Then, there's the ability to tap open source products and talent, such as Hibernate and its creator Gavin King. And, to be sure, gobbling up J2EE server market share and getting acquired by Red Hat aren't too shabby either. Even with the departure of founder Marc Fleury, the company is not resting on its laurels."

TECHNOLOGY PERSPECTIVE
FIMA KATZ INTERVIEWED ABOUT HOW "ECLIPSE-BASED TOOLS BUILD MASS MARKET SOA AND WEB 2.0"
"Rich Enterprise Applications arise from the convergence of two major trends in the development of Web applications. Specifically, Service Oriented Architecture and Rich Internet Applications. Those applications have become more complex, and any project that is targeting the goal of 'retiring' an old outdated system often ends up, not only replacing the old functionality, but actually adding many new functions to the system. Furthermore, enterprise developers must serve two demanding groups of masters at the same time: consumers desiring all of the user interface aspects of Web 2.0 and businesses wanting more and more functionality."
