EXADEL PLUGINS NOW OPENSOURCED
JBoss releases JBoss Tools, Eclipse plugins including Exadel
by Joseph Ottinger, TheServerSide.com
"JBoss has put JBoss Tools in their source code repositories, a set of Eclipse Plugins including the Exadel Studio product, Ajax4JSF, and RichFaces (donated to JBoss in March by Exadel), as well as Hibernate Tools, JBoss jBPM Tools, Drools IDE, JBoss Application Server Tools, and JBoss Seam Tools.
Key features of the Exadel plug-ins include:
- Two-way visual (WYSIWYG) and source editing of JavaServer Faces (JSF) and Facelets pages;
- Support for JBoss Ajaxjsf, JBoss RichFaces, and JBoss Seam components;
- Drag and drop capabilities between project navigator, component pallet, and Visual Page Editor windows;
- Extended code assist for JSF and Seam projects;
- Support for easily adding Ajax capabilities to projects using JBoss RichFaces and Ajax4JSF using a palette and code assist.
This is the first step toward delivering Red Hat Developer Studio, an open source integrated development environment (IDE), later this summer."

OFFSHORING 2.0: THE POST-INDIA MARKET
by Deborah Perelman, July 5, 2007
In her article dedicated to new offshore locations, Deborah Perelman discusses why India will no longer be the main offshoring center.
"Salary inflation is largely to blame for the change in course. When the outsourcing boom took off in 2004, the salaries of software engineers were one quarter of what San Francisco-area computer engineers made, making very clear the cost savings of offshoring.
But in the years since, Indian salaries have soared - in several cases to 75 percent of U.S. levels - and some in Silicon Valley have begun to sour on sending jobs to India.
However, it wasn't only salary inflation that has caused many technology firms to pull their labor out of offshore centers; it was the hidden cost they hadn't anticipated such as geographic and time gaps, the need for more U.S. managers to oversee the outsourced relationships and the significant costs associated with pulling out."
You can find out what the predicted offshore locations are here.
OUTSOURCING AS A TOOL FOR CORPORATE TRANSFORMATION
Companies have turned to outsourcing and offshoring in the past out of necessity. As the hybrid onshore/offshore model for outsourcing becomes more established, business leaders are realizing how outsourcing can become a positive enabler for corporate transformation.
The best source for the "transformational outsourcing" concept is in this Business Week article.
